Every piece is a number or a date: clean time, a milestone, the day everything changed, the person you carry. Ten characters, typewriter style, tattooed in a private studio. One story at a time.

The announcement
At the start of each month the event date is announced on Instagram @nicktylertattoo.

A sign-up link is shared the day before the event. Spots are limited. First come, first served, on the honor system.

On my clean date this February I told a stranger's story and made a promise under it. Two million views later, the comments have carried it further than I ever could.

A grieving mother asked for one number on her wrist. 392. The days her daughter stayed clean before addiction took her life.
Not her name. Not the date she passed. The days she fought, and the days she lived free.
That story hit home, because addiction isn't abstract to me. I've had my own day 392, my own day 91, my own hour 14, and plenty of day zeros before finding my way here: 5,112 days, counted from 2/22/2012. So I made the promise that became this page. Clean date and sobriety memorial tattoos, completely free. For anyone in recovery. For anyone honoring someone they lost. For any amount of time. 1 day. 100 days. 14 hours. Even 0.

My dad isn't physically dead, but he ran out on me when I was 8 and chose drugs. But for 8 years before that, he tried his best to get clean. My mom only ever remembers the day he left, but for me those 8 years are insanely precious.

OTAAT is back this August.
The next event date drops on Instagram at the start of the month. The registration link goes live the day before. Free, first come, first served.
OTAAT is bigger than one studio. Artists in other cities are joining in. If you're a licensed artist who wants to donate time at a future event, in Selden or your own city, put your name down.

One needle became a network.
OTAAT started in one room in Selden. Then one story spread, and artists from Long Island to Ontario to Poland opened their chairs to the same promise. Spin the globe, find a glowing light, tap it, and read in their own words why they said yes.
